1.1 PGD Entrepreneurship
Philosophy
To strengthen and prepare graduates to pursue postgraduate Diploma programme in Entrepreneurship and to prepare the students to meet the challenges posed by the new venture business creation and innovation also to produce graduates that have developed an appreciation of the interdisciplinary nature and are able to apply conceptual models in the programme and social change situations in the Nigerian and international context.
Objective
The Postgraduate Diploma in Entrepreneurship is designed to:
- Provide working knowledge of the basic skills and tools for entrepreneurship.
- Provide working knowledge of skills required as change agents in the new venture creation process and development.
- Provide working knowledge and skills required to render to micro, small, medium and large enterprises management in business organizations.
Graduation Requirements:
A candidate must fulfill the following conditions to be awarded the Postgraduate Diploma in Entrepreneurship:
- Pass 12 (twelve) core courses of 12 credit units each 4 units
- Undertake a between one- six-week learning tour 2 units
- Research Project 4 units
- Total 30 units
Programme Structure
The programme is made up of 12 courses and one long essay. Seven courses are offered during the first semester while five courses and a long essay are offered in the second semester.

GST707 THE GOOD STUDY GUIDE
Getting Started: How to use the book, why read about study skills, getting yourself organized, what is studying all about, reading and note-taking: introduction, reactions to reading, your reading strategy, memory, taking notes, conclusion. Other ways of studying: Introduction, learning in groups, takes and lectures, learning from T.V and Radio broadcasts, other study media. Working with numbers: Getting to know numbers, describing the world, describing the tables, describing with diagrams and graphs, what is good writing? The importance of writing, what does an essay look like, what is a good essay, conclusion. How to write essays: Introduction, the craft of writing, the advantages of treating essay writing as a craft, making your essay flow, making a convincing case, the experience of writing and preparing for examination.

ENT 701 ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENTS
Empirical analysis of Entrepreneurship Concepts and Theories; Analysis of major entrepreneurship theories; Definitions, Roles and Functions/Values of Entrepreneurship, history of Entrepreneurship, role of Entrepreneurship in the National Economy, functions of an Entrepreneur Entrepreneurship and Forms of Business Ownership. Starting a New Business, Buying an Existing Business, New Product Development, Business Growth and the Entrepreneur, Law and its Relevance to Business Operations.Enterprise relationships of DC & NICs and application of developing countries. Enterprise link with employment brainstorming and at least 10 practical vocations.
ENT702 NIGERIAN ENTREPRENEURSHIP ENVIRONMENT
This course will describe the general character of the component looks at the environmental variables of the concept of entrepreneurship. It is aimed at identifying the environmental factors that affect entrepreneurial development. Also to be considered are types of environmental factors; and adaptive mechanisms to entrepreneurial environment. note differences in these components and discusses the implications of these differences. It will also explore the notion of functional integration by pinpointing relations between the particular components of the business environment and their implications for corporate strategic management.
ENT704 QUANTITATIVE METHODS
Elements of Decision Analysis; Types of Decision Situations; Decision Trees; Operational Research Approach to Decision Analysis: Systems and System Analysis; Modeling in OR, Simulation: Cases for OR Analysis; Mathematical Programming, Transportation Model, Assignment Model, Conflict Analysis and Game Theory; Project Management, other OR Model, Inventory, Replacement, Line Balancing, Routing and Sequencing, and Search.
ENT703 THEORY OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP
The study of entrepreneurship is based on different theories and the contributions made by different theorists to entrepreneurship development. This topic is aimed at exploring these theories from a multidisciplinary perspective and help students to have proper understanding of the different contributions made by these theorists to entrepreneurship development.
ENT705 INTRODUCTION TO ENTREPRENEURIAL FINANCING
This topic examines the element of entrepreneurial financing, focusing on technology-based start-up ventures and new ways of creating value; addresses key questions which challenge all entrepreneurs: how much money can and should be raised, when should it be raised and from whom, what is a reasonable valuation of the company, and how funding, employment contracts and exit decisions should be structured. It also aims at preparing students for these decisions, both as entrepreneurs and venture capitalists.
ENT709 START UP FUNDING
Objectives
- Develop a broad range to optimize the use of outside advisors/mentors to coach or mentors and negotiate effective long-time relationship.
- To identify work skills and attributes that are particularly valuable ways and techniques to sources of funding
- Understanding entrepreneurial practices and key issues of business environment
- To identify start-up pains and gains of growth of businesses
Duration
Start-up funding is a semester programme. An interactive and invitation with founders, producers, innovators, manufacturers, venture capitalist and other professionals throughout the semester and prepare and submit Business Feasibility Study and Business Plan and facilitated by study Course coordinator.
Start-up funding are designed to prepares students/learners to optimize the use of outside advisors/mentors to coach or mentors and negotiate effective long-time relationship with sources of funding, including, but not limited to, venture capital. Students/learners interact with founders, producers, innovators, manufacturers, venture capitalist and other professionals throughout the semester and prepare and submit Business Feasibility Study and Business Plan. The students/leaners only get a chance to experience a visual ways and techniques from whom they choose as their advisors/mentors that helps in motivating them to be efficient enough to achieve their career goals. Experience sharing by business actors in the economy with students/learners during case presentations.
Eligibility
- All students of PGD. Entrepreneurship
The following applies
- Students are to interact and invite any founders, producers, innovators, manufacturers, venture capitalist and other professionals in collaboration and recommendation with study Course coordinator or Head of Department once in a semester
- The mode, time and duration of the presentation will be communicated to students by the course course coordinator. Lecturer in charge or a representative of the Department may also be present for the assessments of student’s presentation.
- Students can be grouped into a maximum of 5 to work on the report, but the role of each student must be well spelt out in the report. Presentation of reports and results should be forwarded 1 month before the semester’s examination.
Student shall spend 10 minutes for presentation and 10 minutes for questions and answers. After completion of the exercise, students are to send in a soft copy of their report via email to the official email.

FMS731 RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
The course focuses on the skill of scientific investigation in public administration, information gathering, analysis and interpretation in dealing with social and organization behaviour problems in Nigeria; the art of problem identification and analysis, data gathering, analysis and report writing; the problems and prospects of business research and the relevant methodology of research.
ENT726 BUSINESS COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Fundamentals of communication explain the basic things about communication. Forms of communication give various forms of communication in life. Introduction to business communication skills introduces communication as part of business enterprises. Business communication treats business communication as a type of communication. Oral communication discusses English phonetic as a requirement for good communication. Writing process describes writing skills required in the business world. Public speaking explains speech making and its requirements. Interpersonal communication gives how good communication promotes interpersonal relationship in business enterprises.
ENT722 ENTREPRENEURIAL MARKETING
Lecturer students to do rigorous, explicit, customer-based marketing analysis, which is most appropriate for new ventures. This topic also discusses ways to implement marketing strategies when resources are very limited. The practical aspect would relate to how to develop and market various forms of business and social organizations.
ENT728 BASICS FINANCIAL LITERACY
This course seeks to deepen student’s understanding of the more advanced and complex problems in financial literacy. Emphasis is placed on developing broad conceptual and analytical skills rather than on book-keeping. Topics including problem of depreciation and inventory valuation, treatment of research and development costs, the measurement of goodwill, international accounting topics such as foreign exchange transactions, accounts of foreign branches and subsidiaries and their translations, re-organizations and business combinations (mergers and acquisitions), consolidated accounts and report, price level accounting, etc with copious reference to international accounting standards and best practices.
ENT724 ENTREPRENEURIAL LEARNING TOUR EXPERIENCE Course Objectives
- Develop a broad range of work skills and attributes that are particularly valuable in a globalized economy.
- Understanding entrepreneurial practices.
- Challenge your values, perceptions and assumptions.
- Gain insight into another culture.
Entrepreneurial learning and tours experience are designed to give you experience that will benefit your career after and during your degree. The tours gives you credit towards your degree and offer a unique opportunity to enrich your learning. The students not only get a chance to experience a visual tour of these industries local or international as decided and agreed upon by all the students but also learn the ways and techniques in which people work over there. The career aspirants also get management advice from the directors and others in-charge of each industry that helps in motivating them to be efficient enough to achieve their career goals.
Duration
Industrial learning and tours is a semester programme. Visits to proposed industries are organized and facilitated by Department/programme Coordinator once in a semester.

Developing students’ skill in analyzing and writing reports based on an empirical or theoretical study of a specific subject matter or topic in relevant Industrial & Labour Relations; Management models for effective project presentation; Students would present a research-based report of not less than 5,000 words, at the end of the session.

Admission Requirements for the Postgraduate Diploma in Entrepreneurship
Candidates seeking admission must possess either Bachelor Degree Certificates or equivalent from institutions recognised by the Senate of NOUN; or Holders of HND with a minimum of Lower Credit from institutions recognised by NOUN or any other University approved by Senate.
- Five (5) credit pass in not more than two sittings in SSCE/NECO/GCE or NABTEB in the following subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Economics Commerce, Business Methods, Accounting, Government, Geography, Chemistry, Biology, and either Physics,
- Higher National Diploma LOWER CREDIT) and with not less than one year post qualification experience.
2.5 MSc Entrepreneurship
Philosophy
The philosophy of the programme is to provide graduates that have developed an appreciation of the interdisciplinary nature of the program and are able to apply conceptual models in the programme to the various creativity, innovation and social change situations in the Nigerian and international context and also to prepare the students to meet the challenges posed by the new business venture creation and innovation.
Objective
- Provide working knowledge of the interdiscplinary basic skills and tools for entrepreneurship.
- Provide working knowledge of skills required as change agents in the new venture creation process and development.
III. Provide working knowledge and skills required to render to micro, small, medium and large enterprises management in business organizations.

Getting Started: How to use the book, why read about study skills, getting yourself organized, what is studying all about, reading and note-taking: introduction, reactions to reading, your reading strategy, memory, taking notes, conclusion. Other ways of studying: Introduction, learning in groups, takes and lectures, learning from T.V and Radio broadcasts, other study media. Working with numbers: Getting to know numbers, describing the world, describing the tables, describing with diagrams and graphs, what is good writing? The importance of writing, what does an essay look like, what is a good essay, conclusion. How to write essays: Introduction, the craft of writing, the advantages of treating essay writing as a craft, making your essay flow, making a convincing case, the experience of writing and preparing for examination
ENT801 BUSINESS PLANNING FOR ENTREPRENEURSHIP GROWTH
This course deals with business plan within task groups from the concept to all elements of a professionally written business plan. This topic affords students high interaction with businesses and entrepreneurs to further refine and improve their plans and/or prepare for national business plan competitions. This component also consists in practical evaluation of students dream businesses and career life, exposition on how best to prepare feasibility report and appraisal of projects before investment; and project evaluation techniques: traditional methods such as accounting rate of return (ARP), payback period (PBP), net present value (NPV) internal rate of return (IRR) and profitability index (PI).
ENT802 ENTREPRENEURSHIP THEORY & BEHAVIOUR
This Course is aimed at exploring these theories from a multidisciplinary perspective and help students to have proper understanding of the different contributions made by these theorists to entrepreneurship development. The study of entrepreneurship is based on different theories and the contributions made by different theorists to entrepreneurship development. The attempt to stimulate and energies the student to develop a models of understanding theory and application to new venture design driven Entrepreneurship. ENT803 MONITORING & SUPERVISION OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMES.
Concept and nature of monitoring and supervision of entrepreneurship development programme, rationale for evaluation in entrepreneurship, external agencies, planning and utilizing entrepreneurship programme, inspection, qualities of enterprise inspection, guidelines for inspection, entrepreneurship monitoring and supervision strategies, services and appraisal of enterprise finances techniques and self evaluation. ENT805 E-BUSINESS & EVENT MANAGEMENT
This course is divided into two parts. Part one on e-buisness and part two on event management. The first part intended to equip students with the broad knowledge of electronic commerce. Topics will cover concept definitions, an overview of internet and mobile telecommunication, importance of e-business, website design, internet advertisements, achieving competitive advantages using E-adverts; online sales, E-payments, ATM, debit and credit cards. Students are expected to be exposed to practical applications. This second part will be on the understanding of event management using project management concept. Topics will cover an overview of what an event is the need for the event, and parties involved. Also to be discussed are the roles of stakeholders such as the sponsor, the team leader, team members and the client/market.

ENT822 SOCIAL AND CULTURAL CHANGE ENTREPRENEURSHIP This course will explore the dimensions of culture to the practice of entrepreneurship. Attention will be given to the works of theorists and sociologists who have made contributions in this field. A comparison of supply and demand perspectives will be undertaken to appraise how they contribute to the emergence of entrepreneurs in the society with particular reference to the Nigerian society. The innovative concepts, practices and strategies related to social Entrepreneurship. It attempts to instill social entrepreneurial attitude by challenging students current thinking and assumptions about what works and why and how to fix identified needs in the community. The essence is to enable students’ think of ways of creating social ventures and organizations that will address environmental issues, politics, crime, poverty, diseases and violence in the society. also identify and discuss how changes in the experience of people, entity or society impact on their entrepreneurial orientation. The course is designed to enable student’s appreciation their culture and learn from other cultures. Reference will be made to particular experiences that have affected entrepreneurial practices of groups in the Nigerian society.

Duration
Industrial learning and tours is a semester programme. Visits to proposed industries, trade fair, Business submit local or international that are organized and facilitated by Department/programme Coordinator once in a semester. Learning tours are designed to give you experience that will benefit your career after and during your degree. The tours gives you credit towards your degree and offer a unique opportunity to enrich your learning. The students not only get a chance to experience a visual tour of these industries local or international as decided and agreed upon by all the students but also learn the ways and techniques in which people work over there. The career aspirants also get management advice from the directors and others in-charge of each industry that helps in motivating them to be efficient enough to achieve their career goals.
The following applies
- Students are to visit any industry proposed by the Department and write a report of 2000 words about the industrial activity of the proposed industry. The mode, time and duration of the presentation will be communicated to students by the Department.
- Students can be grouped into a maximum of 5 to work on the report, but the role of each student must be well spelt out in the report. Visitation, presentation, reports and results should be forwarded 1 month before the semester’s examination.
- Student shall spend 10 minutes for presentation and 10 minutes for questions and answers. After completion of the exercise, students are to send in a soft copy of their report via email to the official email.
Students will gain a well- developed understanding of business enterprises and the entrepreneurial and strategies thinking that drives them in a dynamic competitive regional, national and global economy. Students will learn to apply entrepreneurial and strategic management practices (e.g. using case analysis) to organizations of varying sizes. An integral component, futures studies, shall involve an introduction into thinking about the future, the foundation of the field, its methodologies, link to planning, decision – making, strategy and public policy. 2.0 COURSE EVALUATION
2.1 Attainment Levels
In the Master of Entrepreneurship (Professional) programme, assessment of students’ achievement should be based on:
- Examinations
- Term Papers
- Oral Presentation and Problem solving exercises
- Assignments
- Group Project Works
- PG Dissertations
Continuous Assessment
Continuous Assessment shall be done through essays, tests, term papers, tutorial exercise, quizzes and home works.
- Scores from continuous assessment shall constitute 30% of the final marks for scores which are primarily theoretical
- For courses which are partly term paper presentation and partly theoretical, scores from continuous assessment shall constitute 40% of the final marks
- For courses that are entirely term paper presentations, continuous assessment shall be based on a student’s term papers for reports and shall constitute 100% of the final mark.
TUTOTIAL AND TERMS PAPERS
- Tutorials
There should be one hour of tutorial for every four hours of lecture. Thus a course of one credit unit should comprise 12 hours of lecture and three hours of tutorials.
- Term Papers
There would be term paper presentations which shall form part of the graduation requirements.
Internship in Industry
Internship in Industry is recommended for Master of Cooperative studies and Master of Entrepreneurship education. Where possible, it shall consist of a minimum of 12 supervised weeks of training for a minimum of 3 credit units examined as passed or failed option.
Entrepreneurial skills Studies
Entrepreneurial Studies shall be integral parts of Master of Entrepreneurship (professional) with the aim of empowering the graduates with skills that will enable them engage in income –yielding ventures to be responsible, enterprising, individuals who will be entrepreneurs or entrepreneurial thinkers and contribute to national economic development and sustainable communities.
External Examiners System
The External Examiners System shall be used in the final year of the graduate programme to assess final year courses and projects, and to certify the overall performance of the graduating students, as well as the quality of facilities and teaching.
Examinations, Grading Procedure and Results
- Examination
In addition to continuous assessment final examination shall be given. The total score obtainable for any course continuous asse4ssment and final examinations is 100%. The total final examination scores would be as follow from one course to another, depending on the score of the continuous assessment of a course as explained in section 2

Each course shall normally be completed and examined at the end of the semester which it is offered.
A written examination shall be normally last a minimum of one hour for one unit course and a course of two units shall have 3 hours of examination
Pass Mark
The minimum pass mark in any course shall be 50%.

Graduates should be able to demonstrate problem solving capacity through lateral, critical, innovative and creative connections among diverse fields of study in analyzing problems.

Graduates should have a global perspective, based on an understanding of both the domestic and global environments of the organization

Graduates should be able to communicate effectively in writing and orally in ways appropriate for a variety of objectives and audiences
Ability to Manage Information
Graduates should have an understanding of advances in information technology and be able to effectively integrate the innovations in their decision – making processes.
Social Responsibility
Graduates should understand and demonstrate the ethical considerations and environmental ramifications of their decisions
Behavioural Skills
Graduates should understand Customer, Client, members, competitors, stakeholder’s and board of directors behaviour in organizations and society. They should:
- Have the ability to utilize leadership skills effectively
- Interact effectively in group situations
- Manage in culturally diverse environments
- Help others develop their skills
- Resolve conflict effectively and
- Act independently in low feedback environments.
COURSE DELIVERY AND FACILITIES
- Course Delivery
The modes of course delivery such as lectures, seminars, group projects, in company training etc having being adequately used in training the students. The panel should assess this and measure the effectiveness and adequacy of the various course delivery modes.
- Facilities
Assessment should be made on the degree of availability of facilities such as classrooms, seminar rooms, lecturers’ office accommodation, ICT tools and equipment
- Library
The quality, relevance, currency and quantity of books and international academic and scholarly journals available for the programme should be assessed to determine their adequacy or otherwise.
- Funding
The adequacy of funds available for the programme should be assessed. How far is the post graduate school able to assist indigent student financially.
2.3 Master of Entrepreneurship (Professional)
Philosophy
The philosophy of the programme is to provide graduates that have developed an appreciation of the discipline practise as an entrepreneurs or business owners and are able to apply conceptual models in the programme to the various creativity, innovation and social change situations in the Nigerian and international context and also to prepare the students to meet the challenges posed by the new business venture creation and innovation.
Objective
- Provide working knowledge of the discipline basic skills and tools for entrepreneurship.
- Provide working knowledge of skills required as change agents in the new venture creation process and development.
III. Provide working knowledge and skills required to render to micro, small, medium and large enterprises management in business organizations.

GST807 THE GOOD STUDY GUIDE
Getting Started: How to use the book, why read about study skills, getting yourself organized, what is studying all about, reading and note-taking: introduction, reactions to reading, your reading strategy, memory, taking notes, conclusion. Other ways of studying: Introduction, learning in groups, takes and lectures, learning from T.V and Radio broadcasts, other study media. Working with numbers: Getting to know numbers, describing the world, describing the tables, describing with diagrams and graphs, what is good writing? The importance of writing, what does an essay look like, what is a good essay, conclusion. How to write essays: Introduction, the craft of writing, the advantages of treating essay writing as a craft, making your essay flow, making a convincing case, the experience of writing and preparing for examination
ENT801 BUSINESS PLANNING FOR ENTREPRENEURSHIP GROWTH
This course deals with business plan within task groups from the concept to all elements of a professionally written business plan. This topic affords students high interaction with businesses and entrepreneurs to further refine and improve their plans and/or prepare for national business plan competitions. This component also consists in practical evaluation of students dream businesses and career life, exposition on how best to prepare feasibility report and appraisal of projects before investment; and project evaluation techniques: traditional methods such as accounting rate of return (ARP), payback period (PBP), net present value (NPV) internal rate of return (IRR) and profitability index (PI).
ENT802 ENTREPRENEURSHIP THEORY & BEHAVIOUR
This Course is aimed at exploring these theories from a multidisciplinary perspective and help students to have proper understanding of the different contributions made by these theorists to entrepreneurship development. The study of entrepreneurship is based on different theories and the contributions made by different theorists to entrepreneurship development. The attempt to stimulate and energies the student to develop a models of understanding theory and application to new venture design driven Entrepreneurship. ENT803 MONITORING & SUPERVISION OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMES
Concept and nature of monitoring and supervision of entrepreneurship development programme, rationale for evaluation in entrepreneurship, external agencies, planning and utilizing entrepreneurship programme, inspection, qualities of enterprise inspection, guidelines for inspection, entrepreneurship monitoring and supervision strategies, services and appraisal of enterprise finances techniques and self evaluation. ENT805 E-BUSINESS & EVENT MANAGEMENT
This course is divided into two parts. Part one on e-buisness and part two on event management. The first part intended to equip students with the broad knowledge of electronic commerce. Topics will cover concept definitions, an overview of internet and mobile telecommunication, importance of e-business, website design, internet advertisements, achieving competitive advantages using E-adverts; online sales, E-payments, ATM, debit and credit cards. Students are expected to be exposed to practical applications. This second part will be on the understanding of event management using project management concept. Topics will cover an overview of what an event is the need for the event, and parties involved. Also to be discussed are the roles of stakeholders such as the sponsor, the team leader, team members and the client/market.

ENT823 DISCIPLINED INQUIRY IN ENTREPRENEURSHIP LEARNING TOUR EXPERIENCE Course Objectives

Duration
Industrial learning and tours is a semester programme. Visits to proposed industries, trade fair, Business submit local or international that are organized and facilitated by Department/programme Coordinator once in a semester. Learning tours are designed to give you experience that will benefit your career after and during your degree. The tours gives you credit towards your degree and offer a unique opportunity to enrich your learning. The students not only get a chance to experience a visual tour of these industries local or international as decided and agreed upon by all the students but also learn the ways and techniques in which people work over there. The career aspirants also get management advice from the directors and others in-charge of each industry that helps in motivating them to be efficient enough to achieve their career goals.
The following applies
- Students are to visit any industry proposed by the Department and write a report of 2000 words about the industrial activity of the proposed industry. The mode, time and duration of the presentation will be communicated to students by the Department.
- Students can be grouped into a maximum of 5 to work on the report, but the role of each student must be well spelt out in the report. Visitation, presentation, reports and results should be forwarded 1 month before the semester’s examination.
- Student shall spend 10 minutes for presentation and 10 minutes for questions and answers. After completion of the exercise, students are to send in a soft copy of their report via email to the official email.
Students will gain a well- developed understanding of business enterprises and the entrepreneurial and strategies thinking that drives them in a dynamic competitive regional, national and global economy. Students will learn to apply entrepreneurial and strategic management practices (e.g. using case analysis) to organizations of varying sizes. An integral component, futures studies, shall involve an introduction into thinking about the future, the foundation of the field, its methodologies, link to planning, decision – making, strategy and public policy. The relationship between core competences (at the company level) and ‘ key success factors at the industry shall be examined. ENT824 LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT FOR ENTREPRENEURS
This course exposes students to the leadership question. Topics will include an overview of leadership, theories of leadership, the concept of the servant leader, leaders as change agents and problems of leadership in Nigeria. The concept of management leadership, review of theories and research in leadership, role of leadership in matching together business structure, strategy and behavioural process, Entrepreneurial Leadership and Team Management, Quality Management for SMEs, The course will also cover issues on transparency, accountability, due process and global perspective of good governance, It also covers issues related to good governance. Strategic Entrepreneurship, International comparative studies of management leadership with specific reference to USA, Japan, USSR and China. Leadership roles and organizational effectiveness and productivity.
ENT825 CREATIVITY, INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY IN ENTERPRISES Every Business students must understand ad take decision concerning the nature of Business and Management dynamics, the course covers I(a) Business creation and innovation (b) Brain storming for New/Old organization (c) Project stimulation into it system and sub-system (d) Employment generation and prqject-cum-revenue multiplier capacity. Top management has to understand and take decisions concerning technology. The attempt to force the student to develop a methodology of understanding technology Design Driven Entrepreneurship. Areas to be covered would include appropriate technology, transfer of technology, criteria for choice of technology, technology buying, borrowing etc. Il(a) Management stimulation and conversion of discoveries, Inventions and creative into Innovation for management policy and decision (b) The New product Committee, task force (c) Top Management adoption process (d) Usage of appropriate Technology, Technology Transfer process, choice of tech acquisition and diffusional process of Technologies. Philosophy
The philosophy of the PhD programme in Entrepreneurship is to train and equip graduates with the applied concepts, tools, and deepen the spirit of enquiry and responsibility in students or learners, to take on consultant, teaching and research in higher institutions as well as managing responsibilities in public and private sectors of the national and global economies for sustainability and development.

ENT921 THE NIGERIAN ENTREPRENEURIAL ENVIRONMENT
This course will describe the general character of the component looks at the environmental variables of the concept of entrepreneurship. It is aimed at identifying the environmental factors that affect entrepreneurial development. Also to be considered are types of environmental factors; and adaptive mechanisms to entrepreneurial environment. note differences in these components and discusses the implications of these differences. It will also explore the notion of functional integration by pinpointing relations between the particular components of the business environment and their implications for corporate strategic management.
BUS MANAGEMENT THOUGHT AND PHILOSOPHY
The course will have an analysis and discussion of management theories, thoughts and philosophy. Discussions will be on meanings of management philosophy, semantic difficulties in management and a critical look at the evolution of management from the early periods to the scientific management era through the administrative human relations and classical management era to the modern management period. - Students are to visit any industry proposed by the Department and write a report of 2000 words about the industrial activity of the proposed industry. The mode, time and duration of the presentation will be communicated to students by the Department.
- Students can be grouped into a maximum of 5 to work on the report, but the role of each student must be well spelt out in the report. Visitation, presentation, reports and results should be forwarded 1 month before the semester’s examination.
- Student shall spend 10 minutes for presentation and 10 minutes for questions and answers. After completion of the exercise, students are to send in a soft copy of their report via email to the official email.
ENT903 ADVANCED QUANTITATIVE TECHNIQUES ANALYSIS
Formulation of mathematical economic models applied to theories and problems in entrepreneurship. FMS/ENT925 ADVANCED RESEARCH METHODS
The objective of this course is to deepen the understanding of the students, of the traditional scientific research methods. Topics to be discussed include Research in Social, Physical and natural sciences, problems of research in developing countries, common errors in research; types of research; and research in practice, selecting a topic, problem and hypotheses formulation, research design, instruments and data collection data analysis and interpretation, research report, etc. The objective is for students to gain confidence in the applicability and relevance of non–quantitative methods in our research environment, where the tradition of believing on “objective measurement” is strong . Qualitative research methods open up for us a class of research questions that is not accessible within the “normal” scientific method. That is, as researchers, we can ask new questions if we have a richer repertoire of tools, both the qualitative and the quantitative from which to chose. Topics to be discussed include the basics of qualitative research methods and research approaches. Some qualitative research approaches, such as phenomenography, activity theory and ethnography, data collection methods such as interviews, field studies and rapid rural appraisal and observations. The study of entrepreneurship is based on different theories and the contributions made by different theorists to entrepreneurship development. This topic is aimed at exploring these theories from a multidisciplinary perspective and help students to have proper understanding of the different contributions made by these theorists to entrepreneurship development.

Students have an opportunity to present and discuss their own research and activity engage in the analysis and discussion of the work of others. Each student is expected to make at least one presentation during the course, focusing on the formulation, design, execution, and results of his or her research.

Admission Requirements for the Ph. D):
For a candidate to qualify for the Doctorate Degree (P h D) Programme in the Department of Entrepreneurial Studies such a candidate must possess:
- Five (5) credit pass in not more than two sittings in SSCE/NECO/GCE or NABTEB in the following subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Economics Commerce, Business Methods, Accounting, Government, Geography, Chemistry, Biology OR Agriculture, and Physics
- (Higher National Diploma LOWER CREDIT) and POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN Entrepreneurship, Management OR Business Administration OR Financial Management with CGPA of 3.00 not less than two years post qualification experience.
- A Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of Second Class (Lower) in Entrepreneurship, and Business Management, Cooperative, Accounting,
Banking and Finance, Economics, Insurance, Business, Entrepreneurship,
Employment and Human Relations, Management, Marketing, (Human Resource Management AND related discipline (i.e. Tourism & Hospitality Management, Transport Management, Office and Information Management, Actuarial Science, Agricultural Economics etc.) of NOUN or any other University approved by Senate.
- An Academic Master Degree (M.Sc.) with CGPA of 4.00) in Entrepreneurship, and Business, Management, Cooperative, Economics, Employment and Human Relations, Management, Marketing, (Human Resource Management) of NOUN or any other University approved by Senate.
- The Candidate may be required to satisfy the Department at an interview or
